|
|
I am very interested in becoming a Bryant owner. This boat just came up for sale in OK where I live. 1996 Bryant 212 Limited, It has a Bryant factory wake board tower, stereo with removable face, sub woofer and six speakers. Bimini top, trailer boards replaced two years ago. 5.7 V-8, dual batteries, etc.
He's asking $14,000. Is that reasonable? The NADA is only around $7k w/o trailer. This one comes with nice tandem trailer. The boat is in very good condition. Really could use some informed opinions. What is a fair range? Help? Thanks! |

I have the same boat minus the tower.
Personally I think that is a little high, but I have seen several listed in the price range. Let us know if you get it or another one.
I actually saw this one you mentioned on craigslist...I think.....looks pretty nice. _________________ Randy Spence

+1. That's about the range of what I paid for our '01 214. That being said...keep in mind that NADA is only a guide and the trailer is probably only going to list for about $1,500 on NADA. The drawback to NADA is that it doesn't have the ability to assign a value to many of the options that could possibly come with a boat. For example, ours came with the full canvas enclosure package, and that's not an option with NADA. Best bet is to compare prices of other similar boats that are listed in the For Sale section of this forum and Craigslist. I rarely see any on Ebay. A handy tool I used for Craiglist is Craigspal. Just Google Craigspal and download the free version. It will let you search the entire country in one click, instead of flipping back and forth between webpages. I think someone else mentioned another utility once, but can't remember offhand what it was. _________________ '01 214 5.7L EFI

What's that?!?! You're in the wrong place for a reality check. We ALL drool over bigger Bryant's or the next big upgrade!
Is this a first boat for you? If so, make sure you agree to nothing without a test drive and some sort of mechanical inspection by an independant 3rd party that knows what they're doing. Fall in love with the Bryant, not the idea of owning a boat and the rest will fall into place. And don't let the possibility of someone buying it out from under you let you rush into it. I let a couple of decent boats slip through my fingers last year before we got our Bryant and I'm glad I did now. It was pretty disappointing at first, but it just didn't feel right and I couldn't be happier now. There have been quite a few Bryants for sale here lately. So if this one doesn't work out, then that just means there's a better deal waiting for you. _________________ '01 214 5.7L EFI

I'd probably offer this guy $14k or $15k as a final offer. Never know what kind of deal you can walk away with, especially if you're pitting one against the other.

It's worth what you're willing to pay. If the boat is in exceptional condition, it may be worth quite a bit more than one that's average - to the right buyer. Some of us look to buy low and then spend a fair amount of time reconditioning and modding. If that's not for you, then pay more for a boat that's like new and just enjoy it. Another way to look at it is that an older boat in exceptional condition is not going to depreciate much more and can offer you the same experience as a new boat. One of the biggest benefits of owning a Bryant is that the boat itself will last a long, long time due to it's construction. Just my .02. _________________ Robb Wing

Both look to be very nice boats.
It all boils down to doing your research by just looking to see what other boats are priced at, and then being happy with what you paid for it.
I would think the 96 212 is a little over priced, but it looks very nice. If you like the boat, pick a number and see if you can neg.
Good luck.
This one looks like a very good deal

| Great advice from all of you. Thank you very much. This will be my first "family" boat. My 1983 Pro-Craft bass boat doesn't work for me and my three kids! Thanks again. |

The Bryant mentioned is up near me...looks like a good deal to be had. Where627...if you roll up though here to buy her, we can take the maiden voyage together! _________________ '09 190 Ivory/Scarlet "Knot Now"

Good looking 96.. 14K seems a tad bit steep though. Its one thing to have pride in your baby when selling it, but NADA states other wise.
I live in Oklahoma as well and bought a 97 212 limited for 10K (asking price was 12K), with an estimated 400 hours on it, sick stereo system with 2 subs - amps, two batteries - the whole nine yards. Personally, I would call your local banker/credit union and see what they will loan on it, then call the seller and pass on that info to him/her/them.
Good looking, but then again.. ALL Bryants are good looking!

| Well the '96 212 is now not for sale. Apparently the owner went home and told his family he was selling the boat and there was a revolt! He agreed not to sell it. I think that is hilarious. Also talked to my neighbor about his boat, it's his second Bryant and he raved about them. I am sold it's now only a Bryant search for me! |
